Samhain (All Hallow's Even)

i apologize for not blogging in SUCH A LONG while. been running low on creative juices lately as to what i should blog about. but well, im back! it's halloween today, so i hope everyone's had a good and interesting one thus far. i'd go party or whatever shit, but i have no idea where to. no trick or treating for me. besides, i have this phobia that someone might shoot me in the head instead of giving me candy.

"trick or treat!" *BANG*

holy crap. no thankyou. i have absolutely no intention of risking my life for a bag of candy. so here i am, watching So You Think You Can Dance Canada while waiting to give candy out to trick-or-treaters. but it's been really boring, cos so far only 1 kid came. but that lil boy was so cute! he was in some sort of bear costume of some sort (or was it elephant? i remember it was grey) and with his mummy, carrying one of those huge recyclable bags going "trick-or-treat!" so adorable i tell you. and he was probably only 2 years old! :D

so yeah, the family's out to some "Hallelujah party" in church, who knows doing what. i decided not to go cos i my friends arent there, and there's nothing for gr12s to do anyways. pfft. so now im waiting for the doorbell to ring and hand candies out to kids. i feel so alone! :'[

here are some pics of the candies! (and me. mostly me, and my day in school) :D prepare to get a treat for your eyes...

here kiddies... i've got lots of poison-i mean, candy, to give out~

lots to spare! (eh this pose sexy bo?)

these candies are not toxic! really!

chillin' in the library during our spare period. i know my outfit looks better than Ameer's. see Ameer? told you you should've dressed up as seaweed :p :D

introducing Ameer, the Chubby Vampire

trying to scare me. and failing. MISERABLY. i ended up laughing :D

Ameer the super freak with 2 pairs of ears :x isnt it funny how people get bits of their costume from the dollarstore?

Janany loved my outfit so much she was like "lemme take a picture of you!" so yup :D

camwhoring at locker. i look sad cos Janany doesnt wanna take a picture with me cos she didnt dress up. she said she looks like a hobo so i replied that she could just claim to be one inthe picture. but she refused in the end. Janany, you hurt me real deep :[

totally Harry Potter-ish man

yeah my chem teacher made this. told us it started out with him and his wife trying to make the Slytherin flame or who knows what from Harry Potter. it is so cool!~

i think there's copper and strontium inside, along with a whole lot of other metals. no, why would i bother to memorize everything?

think it was burning out in this picture. looks totally eerie.

haha i like Stuffy's cloth "hair extensions". she's dressed up as some anime character :] those hoops look very tempting...

turn behind Stuffy... please...? please Stuffy please? *tugs on hair extension thingie*

yay Stuffy turned around for the camera! :DD

Stuffy, you are a lousy photographer. thank goodness you're taking it next semester! :p

haha some grade 12 guy who came in a banana suit. he burst into our chem class and we made him do the banana dance!

random chamwhoring in chem class cos noone really gave a shit :D

Mr Robertson was some kinda 70's rockstar person (i think. or it could have just been the dressing :]) damn shuai la! i couldnt even recognize him! :x

she secretly wants to punch me, i know :x

Amila and her awesome $2 moving eyebrows and moustache! gotta love it :D

more camwhoring in class with Sab

stop drawing on my stuff la, Stuffy... please..? (pun not intended)

Kay was shocked by something, i forgot what. was it about her camera getting scratched of some sort?

i have no idea what she's supposed to be, but the skull necklace reminds me of a shaman-thing haha~

when fairytale meets street culture

haha i know this is completely random, but i find it too cute to NOT post up! it's a fuzzy caterpillar! never seen one of these in Singapore before! and it looks kinda halloween-ish with its black and brown segments :D

Janany screamed and flipped when i pointed this lil fella out to her. i stopped to take pictures of it and play with it, and she kept telling me not to (cos she's crap scared of them). i patted and stroked it with my pinkie anyways :D

star-spangled :D

my face is blinged so prettily! (okay it was a crystal sticker from Michael's) damn nice right??

harajuku girl trying to act cute = this o.O

my lipstick/gloss looks weird here. and so does my nose. oh well, love the makeup. dont you? :D

i used a lip liner for the bottom lid by the way. it's clean okay, i havent used it before on my lips!!!

that's Mr Skully, whom i took out from my necklace and pinned onto the hem on my skirt. yes i know it's hell cool :D

i know this picture is really really badly taken, but it's hard to take pictures of stuff on your legs can only look nice when you're standing! that's my spider on its web, also taken from a necklace of mine and pinned onto my fishnets :D totally hot

im a harajuku girl, in case ya'll still dont know. but Janany thinks i look more like some Edward Scissorhands character. oh well, as long as i look creepy :D

my voodoo doll needs a name. any suggestions?

i love my purple hair in this picture! too bad it only looks nice under bright light :[ and i hope the colour doesnt run out too soon... :x

so there's my halloween for you. pretty boring, i know. stop reminding me la... im already damn sad as it is. watching Ghost Hunters now, just to keep myself occupied. it's funny to watch how some people go to haunted places, demands the spirits there to do something for them, and when that happens, they get scared shitless. pfft. asking for trouble, that's what it is. and so far no other kid has come by. BORING.

p.s: you ask what Samhain is? and what All Hallow's Even is? well lemme explain. Halloween has origins stemming from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. it was believed that on October 31, the boundary between the living and the dead would dissolve, and the dead would cause problems for the living. so the people would dress up in costumes and masks to scare off the evil spirits and to sort of mimic them. they had bonfires too, but unfortunately we cant do it here. if you're interested to know more, read it from here.

you know, i've been thinking of renaming my blog. i mean, "a sip of life. MY LIFE." sounds a little intimidating of some sort to people who arrive here for the first time. maybe. i should change my blog's content/title/whateveryoucallit to... the misadventures of a Singaporean-born Canadian who moved back to Canada but now has problems because of her Singaporean upbringing.

or maybe not. what a mouthful. or handful, considering it's more of typed that said. forget it then. a sip of life it is (still).

so anyways, like said, with me all new here and stuff, there's bound to be weird things (well weird to me, maybe not to those raised here) that happen to me here. lets take one example, from school, as i spend so damn bloody much time there. (not like it's a bad thing, but neither is it a superb thing, so yeah.)

this happened one fine sunny day during lunch, when Lawrence and i were sitting at my locker having lunch (as usual), talking about weed, gay people (no i dont have anything against homos, in fact i find them fun to hang with :D), and peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches (as usual). oh right, before i move on, i must describe the location of my locker. it's in this hallway that's pretty isolated, not many people enter and exit the school from there (partly cos they lock the doors from the outside on some days -___-"), and just so very nicely, it's dead straight infront of the guys' washroom.

no kidding. if i turn 180degrees from facing my locker to facing forward, the first thing i see is the entrance to the guys' washroom. and any guy who's about the exit the washroom will see me. how wth. and not only that, there's a rubbish bin there that stares straight at me too. so yeah. i see guys and trash all the time. sighs. hmmm wonder if that's a sign... i would eat lunch at Lawrence's locker instead, but there's a Korean clique near there, so nah. spaces, man, spaces...

so as we were having our oh-so-usual lunch and nonsense, this totally random guy who was sitting along the hallways lunching, went up to the guys' washroom with his trash balled up in his hands, obviously with the intention to throw it away.

BUT. before he did that, he turned behind and looked at me, and went "this is why i made the basketball team." stopped to aim and then shot it in. pretty nicely too, may i add. okay, so Lawrence and i were like "yeah that's pretty good..."
and as soon as the guy walked off, we stared at each other and went "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ABOUT???"

like hello, 2 people eating lunch and minding their own business, having -100% of any knowledge of who you are do not care that you made the basketball team or not, or whether you can shoot your garbage into the bin. as long as you dont drop it on us, it's fine. but seriously, we dont care. in fact, it makes you look cocky, completely random and an absolute weirdo. and no, that's not the way to make a first impression, dear sir.

steve mentioned i should say something like "an apple a day keeps the weirdos away." now, if only the world worked like that. i'd be healthy with good bowels and weirdo-free. but alas, the world is not so. *snap snap* *reality suddenly appears* even if i ate 10 apples a day, no doubt leading me to having diarrhea, that would not still eliminate my chances of running into weirdos on a daily basis. (okay la, im not that unlucky. weekly basis, i meant :]) plus apples arent that cheap either, and lao niang still hasn't found a job lor.

im thinking of bringing a purse full of pennies. everytime a weirdo comes up to me and tries to hao lian/show off/bug me/touch me/whatever to do with me, i will give him/her a penny and go, "here, have a penny and save your weirdness for yourself! nice meeting you!" and if they get insulted, i'll tell them, "hello!! i just gave you a penny for acting weird! can be a bit more grateful or not?!?!?!", while whisking that very blessed penny out from their hands and shoving it into their mouth/nose (but preferably mouth, to shut them up deftly).

but that will mean i'll have to start bringing gloves around too, as no way do i want to get my hands tainted from salivas of strangers *shudders* if anyone else has a better suggestion of dealing with weirdos, do feel free to do so (via the comment at the end of the entry). and if i sound mean, im sorry. but this entry will only sound mean if you're a weirdo too, who bugs me :] *hint hint*

p.s: no this entry is not done by Stephen Luu, and neither was the outline of it done by him. it was done by ME, bitches. it's just that i was asking him for ideas on what to blog about, and he told me that i should blog about this incident, along with his famous phrase that "an apple a day keeps the weirdos away", which has now sadly been pwned :D

debateyyy
Wednesday, October 15, 20086:05 PM

whoohoo! tonight's the night of the 3rd and last US presidential debate! mustwatch mustwatch... hopefully there won't be too many screw ups this time... ("That One", anybody?)

anyways... i've been so tired recently! must be the period pfft... during my spare today i went to the library to finish up some chem homework, read the book i borrowed (The Big Love by Sarah Dunn), and napped cos i was so freakin' tired. it was around 11.30am when i fell asleep, and guess when i woke up? 12.15pm! 15mins late for lunch! zzzomg i packed my stuff and just rushed out cos i had this feeling Lawrence was probably at his locker all loner-ish and wondering where his lunch buddies were (haha). and i was right! i rushed there and he was like "what the..?!?!?!" and when i explained to him why i was late he went "oh my god..." with that ever-so-exasperated look on his face. well it's not like i do this all the time right? damn i should set an alarm or something -___-" but then again, if i do, i'll probably get kicked out of the library for disturbing public peace which will leave me sleeping in the streets :[

oh oh and im really pumped for school tomorrow!! why? cos my biology teacher aint coming! :DDD yayyayyay!!! why? cos there's this science club (or whatever they call it), and they're having some science olympics thing over at McMaster's University, and yes, she's involved. to add to it, it's a whole day affair! duh, McMaster's is like at Hamilton, which is um... almost a 3-hour drive away? hahaha... the first time ever that she's away! *twirls and dances to crazy happy disco music*

so for the first half of my day tomorrow, it's like, crap. haha. no teacher for first, and spare for second. i am happy :D

yeah yeah im such a slacker. shut up :]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
update!
okay so i just finished watching the 3rd and final US presidential debate, and i must say both candidates weren't too bad.
Senator McCain was aggressive in making his points, he didnt dwell too much on the past like he did in the 2nd, and his answers were more straight to the point, whereas he was kind of beating around the bush in the 2nd.
Senator Obama was very eloquent as usual, kept his cool extremely well, emphasized on important things such as healthcare and education, and (from my point of view) was far more detailed in describing his plan.
but what i didnt like, to the breaking point of irritation, was that Senator McCain continually interrupted when Senator Obama was answeing and explaining. the first few times was okay, but as it went on, it got really annoying for me. he could've waited, listened, and from there build up a stronger rebuttal of some sort. but nooooooo. he kept butting in. at least let the undecided people have some chance to hear what Senator Obama has to say. and give those who are voting for you more reason to vote for you. isnt it? besides, cutting into people's conversations is really unprofessional. tsk.
and Senator Obama was surprisingly not on the offense today. i think the 2nd debate was his better one, not today's. much as he was gracious throughout the whole debate, listening to Senator McCain cutting in and all, his answers still lacked a certain flair to it that those of the 2nd debate had. today's debate was pretty flat for him, i'd say. his rebuttals to what Senator McCain said were not as strong and solid and they could have been. bit of a waste of opportunity, in my opinion.
but what i found was interesting was that, in one question presented to them regarding why the country would be better off with each candidates' running mate, Senator Obama did not seize the opportunity to talk about/criticize Sarah Palin, even though he could have. Senator McCain of course, took the opportunity to speak what he felt about John Biden (obviously not very nice things la). all Senator Obama did was speak on the good points of his running mate John Biden and why the country should feel safe having him as vice-president. no lashing out at Senator McCain's running mate Sarah Palin, even though we all know that there's TONNES of things to say about her. (on a side note, i personally would not vote for a candidate embroiled in all sorts of controversies. what kind of impression does that leave on voters? we all know the media isnt 100% true, but there's always a little something that gets the whole thing going right?)
but all in all, im still rooting for Senator Obama. why? because. i can say so. haha nah! because i want to see a black president up there. all the presidents of America have all been white, since its very foundations. well i think it's time for some change, and Senator Obama fits the bill. plus, he seems more of a people's president than Senator McCain. he is more patient and has a pretty good tolerance level to boot. and and and...
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Senator McCain is old la. no meh??? 72!!! (am i right?) later halfway through his term he dio something how??? *touchwood touchwood* (because we all know older people are more susceptible to illnesses and the lot right?) the country of America how you tell me? especially during this economic crisis that isnt expected to recover till next year. hmmm yeah another reason to root for Senator Obama haha!
oh well. i'll end off here. to the Americans, may you have wisdom when it comes to voting/election day :] me? imma watch the rush hour 3 dvd i borrowed from the school library, then go sleep :] yayyayyay for no biology teacher around! FOR ONCE!!!
bunch of randoms & something not so random
Sunday, September 07, 20088:00 PM
ooooooooookay. before it completely slips out of my mind. MY LIST OF THINGS TO DO/GET.
1. get 2 international calling cards during lunch tomorrow!!! gahhhhhhh
2. start decorating locker in school so i won't feel so dejected/rejected :[
3. get public library card done (lameshit, dont ask)
4. dig up old lit notes from Singapore!!!
5. get the book "The Bite of The Mango".
-very interesting book, written by a girl from Kenya (if i remember clearly). she grew up during the time of politcal conflict, which Africa is well-known for, in all unfortuity. when she was 10, a child soldier severed both her hands and after which, instructed her to "tell the president to give you new hands." The titel of the book comes from her recollection of when a man gave her a mango on the night of the same day when her hands got cut off. he held it up to her mouth to help feed her, but she insisted on taking it home with her in her wrapped stubs. she came to Canada somewhat 8 years ago, and is going to college this year (or was it university? can't remember clearly). and be surprised, she refuses to use prosthetics, as she finds them expensive, and besides, she "can manage" with what she already has. what interests me in this book is the fact that it's about Africa, the country wrapped in controversy and infamy. it's so unfortunate, that corruption, politics and its past has plagued it to such terrible stages. and yet beneath the whole ugly layer that seems to shroud out everything, its culture, people and resources are actually so intriguing, mysterious and stirring. the people are especially interesting. have you noticed that almost all Olympic winners for the track events (esp sprints) are blacks? and that many singers with "big voices" are also black? eg. stevie wonder, if you dont get it. so i think getting this book would help broaden my perspectives on Africa, that country so many of us know as the "AIDS/HIV place", "corrupted land", "burdened continent", blahblah. oei dont forgot your ancestors came from that lush continent okay, so that's your ORIGINAL MOTHERLAND. haha. and i have this secret interest in Africa :D and South America :D yeah i like places with lotsa native/traditional spirituality stuff :D okay nexxxt..........-
6. find more acrylic nails from the dollarstore
7. find nice movies to download :x (spiralfrog isn't as efficient as good ol' limewire)
8. get the dvd for Step Up 2 The Streets! :]
9. try that new temporary hairdye from the dollarstore. if it works, buy more! :D
10. clear up my freakkin room -_-"
11. find my bank token and transfer the money i owe Fefe. WAYYYYYYYYYY overdue man :x
12. mail the neoprint to Cheesan and the ticket + SGD$10 to hubby.
13. FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THOSE COLOURED CONTACT LENSES!!!
14. more tights/leggings! really really! but here so damn ex, averages CND$8 for a pair. wth. i always find my stockings for under SGD$6 -_-"
15. stop falling asleep during chem class
16. stop bad-mouthing my biology teacher's teaching methods :x
17. pick a book & movie for my ISU
18. prepare for WINTERRRRRRRRR. (okay not really la, but it's getting cold now so let's pretend there's no such thing as autumn :x)
i know, such a long list right? but what to do, im a lazy-assed procrastinator with a really bad memory. so yup :]
okay i think i should update about back-to-school life, which i have been living for the past 3-4days. it's pretty okay i guess, even though it's gonna take a lot of getting used to. for example, there are SO MANY asians that even I'M scared, the locks for our lockers belong to our school -_-", and we have only the caf and the first floor to eat at during lunch. in banting we could eat ANYWHERE, bring our OWN locks (yay!), and there was a bit better balance of races there :x no no im not saying banting rocks and richmond green sucks, but it is a more different high school experience when compared. and more complicated administration to get used to -_-"
but it's been alright so far, i can understand almost half of the school (chinese & cantonese yo!!!), and i haven't lost my way around the school. yet. so all is well thus far :] plus my teachers are nice (but i still dont like the b i o teacher). english teacher Mr Jones is funny (and sorta reminds me of Mr Kang back in Sg), and chem teacher Mr Robertson is just like an alkali metal: way reactive, but in a good way :] and yeah i finally know how to open my locker now that i have the right code -_-" but i still need a proper lunch place, i might end up obstructing others if i sit in front of my locker munching away...
oh uh and about social life. ZIP NADA ZILCH. yes i suck like that. whatever socializing/interpersonal skills i developed and refined and honed painstakingly, i seem to have lost here :[ YOU KNOW HOW SAD IS THAT OR NOT??? :[ im always so quiet and im always hanging out with the studious people (well the quieter ones, that is). im not prejudiced or anything, but being quiet is just not me. well not typically me, so i'll just go about it step by step, and see how much of social skills i have left. BOO :[
but i did make a few... um... accquaintances. ("friends" would be stretching it a bit, cos it's on a deeper level.) so i got to know a few people in my classes, all of whom are pretty okay (rarely have i met a non-okay person before, really). but i feel like a loner in the school cos some people have known each other since what, grade 7 or something? since grade 7 to 11... yeah that's hell tough ice to crack man. like, i did talk to a few people, but when their friends come along, it makes me miss the times in Singapore, when i was surrounded by friends, and all the laughs we shared. does make me wish i was back in Sg... :[
anyways, there's somethings about the school that kinda ticks me off: the administration system. okay in banting, lockers are assigned according to homeroom teachers, and we bring our own locks. so a row of locks will belong to the students of a particular homeroom teacher, locked by whatever you bring. here at richmond green, lockers are assigned by the office, RANDOMLY. and you have to use the school locks, like it or not. trust me i hate that system. i dont like the fact that it's not in order, and that we cant use our own locks. i guess they cant put them by class order, cos there are people who wanna switch or drop classes, so that i understand. but use the school's locks? memorize the combination they give me? arghhhhhhhhhh... so dumb. for goodness sake the office lady gave me the wrong code. it wasnt till the 3rd time that she got it right -_-" and my locker is so new, i can break my hand opening it everytime lol. sighs more getting used to i guess.
and it's nice that there's a plaza right opposite our school, so i can drop by for a starbucks frapp or stock up on gum when i need too :D too bad they don't have shoppers drug mart there though, man i love shoppers! esp when stuff there goes on sale! but... too bad. starbucks makes up fo it though :]
so im off to do my biology homework now (ARGH) and revise for my bio and chem diagnostics test (double ARGH! no wait that's triple...) that's tomorrow. i so have to stop falling asleep during chem. WHO MADE SCIENCE THE TOUGHER STREAM THAN ARTS HUH???
gate-crasher lols
haha today i finally made history. okay in my life that is. i finally crashed a poly lecture! like totally finally! been waiting ages to crash a poly but haven't been able to do so due to time clashes and stuff... BUT. today i finally did. i crashed one of ellie's lectures and i have to say, im in a state of shock.
i mean, the class was utter chaos, the lecturer was speaking through the mike, and the students were just simply doing their own stuff not giving a damn. or two. about him. like really man. he might as well have not been there. everyone was like either sleeping, talking, listening to their mp3s, gaming, using their laptops to do weird stuff... okay basically not paying attention thats all. i mean i do that too during lectures in MI, but more discreetly and sans the laptop based stuff since i dont have one to begin with =[
and the lecturer wasn't helping either with the noise levels cos he was using a mike to speak, and it was obvious he was sorta trying to speak over all the noise. damn was it noisy. even ellie said he needed ear plugs, and i couldnt agree more with him -.-'' ellie was really bored, and i was getting sleepy from doing my math homework (which i actually brought. see im such an angel HAH pui...). and it didnt help that all the talk about circuits and "flip-flops" thingies were really boring too... and i dont blame some of them for just knocking out flat at their desks. i was yawning every like what, 5-10mins? sheesh...
and the lecturer's "short break" was like freaking long, estimated close to half an hour. haha so much for short. some people went out to buy bubble tea from their canteens and i was freaking jealous. wished MI had that too man so we wouldnt have to run everywhere when we get bubble tea cravings. ellie had to wake me up once in a while cos i just fell asleep at the desk haha =]
so yeah when the lecturer can back i decided to open my bad of TNCC gummy snakes and snacked on them openly for the remaining of the lecture sinc ethe lecturer didnt really mind. plus it kept me awake =] so basically i snacked and did whatever math i could muster up for the remaining 35mins, while the teacher yakked away.
but i have to admit, the lecturer's quite a poor fellow. noone really seems to have any respect for him. some students even just walked/waltzed outta the lecture just like that. like man thats just totally... i dunno what to say. thats kinda mean to do to an already pushed-around lecturer. or they could have just left during the break, instead of 10mins before the lecture ended. and and ellie told me that some of the students called him a dinosaur, cos he sorta looks like one. and scarily he does. like a brontosaurus. ya know the long-necked one? yeah that one. i made a couple of imageries up for ellie so i think the next time, he won't be able to look at that lecturer the same way again heh =X
well so much for my "first day" at poly huh. OH OH. plus. the lectureroom where ellie's lecture was at, was the room i first went to when i first stepped into nyp for an astronomy class 3YEARS AGO in 2004. ellie told me all th classed along the block looked the same, but i told him i remember the class cos of the window view. cos during the astronomy class back then, i was kinda bored, so i was constantly looking out the window to keep myself preoccupied so i've pretty much remembered the view from that classroom's window =]
yay yay thanks to ellie i've had my first day of crashing poly =] oh oh just so you know, ellie is my grandpa!!! YAY YAY! =D
bit of a whirlwind
okay so once again i've yet to blog in a long time. oh well when the holidays come laziness and travelling kick in... not my fault! >.<>brief update: yes im much happier now, for what reasons im not gonna mention. its anybody's guess =] but in any case yes im the carefree bouncy freak of a girl i used to be, not the sobby sobby one i've been for so long. oh how i marvel at the change in me HAHAHA =X
church musical rehearsals are driving me nuts but its okay im used to it now. and now, i go to church up to 4 TIMES A WEEK. hah but no im not any much holier so yeah heh. count this: thursday for choir practice, friday for the musical, saturday also for the musical, and sunday for well, normal service! makes me wanna go whoa when i count lols. but its okay im not complaining =D
well school life is so-so, im quite at a loss at what to do with mysef honestly. its the exam weeks now; to study, or not to study? that is the question. [pardonnez for the shakespearean but cant be helped, i take lit. plus i have a test on Othello on july4 so yeah...] its like i see my classmates around me mugging [okay not exactly ALL], and i wonder what to do with myself. im leaving school in less than a month's time. okay scratch. in 3WEEKS' TIME. whatever i do in millennia now, i can forget it when i go to canada, quote my dad. and thats very true. the midterms are, from how the teachers put it, not only a test to see how much we've learnt, but also are a part of the year-end promos, which i dont have to give a damn about. cos why? i won't even be staying till the end of term3 for goodness sakes. so i really wonder, do i have to cram that hard? but at the same time, it'd be weird, and i feel weird, cos everyone around me's studying, and im not. so for once i feel like studying, so i can feel normal like everyone else. plus, i dont wanna be a distraction to my classmtes. they know full well that i dont have to study and slog myself to shitbits like they do, but i dont wanna put them in the playing-not-studying mode when they're around me. its kinda hard really, sometimes. but i have to admit, maybe i've grown a lil in a sense that i finally realise that its true. whatever you do around you, you have to watch out how it'll affect others. being in millennia has kinda taught/made me realise that. hmmm so for now im kinda balancing between work and play. i do mug occasionally, even though my slacking outweighs it more HAHA. but im coping so i guess thats fine. right?
dum dum oh yeah there's aikido too haha. yeah so im back in aikido. and sucking at it cos i haven't trained in more than a year >.<> with me when i go to canada HAH. bleh but im gonna start multi-dojo again [i sense more bruises and injuries coming my way] in july and august, partly cos i think [know] i need it. and partly cos my dad will nag me to death if i dont. so yeah. but its fun. wishing that JODY FOO and her sis JEANNETTE will come back soon cos i miss training with them =/ eh girlfriend remember to remind me to ask you out okays lols =D
hmmm oh yes the biggie of them all. going to canada. like what i told a friend:
im excited about going.
but i dont wanna go.
i have second thoughts on going.
im kinda scared to go.
but yet at the same time i cant wait to go.
i cant wait to get out of this reality.
but at the same time i dont want to face a whole new different reality.
yeah i know the feelings are really mixed but oh well. happends when you're confused, excited and scared all at the same time right? but yes truth be told, thats what im feeling now. probably there's a whole lot more than what i typed but oh well. its all jumbled up in my head now. i didnt bother to organize them till my friend jokingly asked me to "tell the truth". so there. the reality of going to stay with people i've known for only a day is kinda daunting, esp when they're gonna be your legal custodians/guardians and you're gonna stay with them under their rules for a year. yes massive difference, so welcome to my world yup.
and its gonna be all so different, in terms of racial differentiation too. like in sinagpore, chinese are the dominant race so everything's a-okay for us chinese here, not much of racist jokes and discrimination against us heh. but over in canada, chinese/asians are quite the least dominant race. and like my dad questioned me, "are you ready for racial discrimination against you just because of your race?" hmmm maybe i should've asked him, him being the veteran of this. zzz...
oh yeah and language too. wheets i get to pick up french like sweet! have been wanting to pick it up since i heard it lols. parler francais here i come lols. so mandarin, which i suck at, won't be used much there [i hope], but cantonese will! whee i'd take cantonese over mandarin any day lols =D [gosh imma disgrace to the mandarin speaking community]
plus culture shock. went through that when i went back in 2003, and im gonna get re-shocked again this august groans >.< and the town im going to, is a studying town. seriously it is. there're only schools there. well mainly i mean. high school, junior high, middle school, secondary school, universities... yeah you name it, they have it. school i mean. shopping mall? nah. no chance. maybe what i'd call a mini plaza. okay picture this: ginza plaza, and the schools and homes around it. now thats what london is some sort like. and the nearest mall, which is in toronto, is roughly 2hours away. heh heh fehoney says that there's no way i can survive there, and sadly i agree. but i'll try. i'll persevere. well i have no choice after all do i? if i screw up in canada, im screwed for life so yeah. guess london ontario will be quite the place for me to focus on my academics >.<
oh yeah bit of details. yup im leaving on august24, morning flight. please DO NOT ask me what airline im taking, esp if you're about to tell me the crash histories of that airline. i'll be landing at toronto dunnowhat airport, visit my uncle and his family and my grandparents there, then driving up to london ontario where my legal custodians stay. i'll be schooling with their eldest daughter at sir frederick banting secondary school [and you thought they only used HIGH school
there lols]. i'll be going [most probably] into grade12, so that means im going in for my first and last year of canadian secondary school haha! hmmm thats pretty much all the details i have and can spare. please so DO NOT ask whether im coming back to visit during my summer holidays; i hate to bring up the subject, much less discuss it. butbutbut if you want me to come back... donate 3dollars for xianing's air ticket for coming back next year! =D okay no im kidding, but really i have no idea whether im coming back or not. my parents are kinda reluctant to get me a two-way ticket, esp since a two-way ticket costs $3000 a person. so see its not cheap okay. and apparently, cos im running out of reasons to come back, im keen on my parents' decision on letting me stay in canada during the summerbreak and either get a summer job or go to summer school of some sort, than come back and waste their money. quite sad eh? oh well who said life would be a soft fluffy pillow that'll catch your fall all the time? ho hum... so there.
anyways so much for a "brief" update, but serves me right i suppose, for being too lazy to update my blog regularly >.<
anyways gotta go will update soon yup
ciao adios there you go~
graduation continued again
Sunday, October 22, 200610:18 AM
this is the final pic that i took on graduation (well there's more but due to censorship... hahax sorry i aint gonna post them man! 4e1 peeps ask them from me if they want =])
ms tambunan and me (i miss her already)
okay so both of us may look really weird in this pic, but somehow this pic holds quite a lot of significance to me.
when she first came in, we were astounded by 2 things about her: her size (not trying to be mean here but yeah...), and her fluency in the english language. she came across as a very eccentric person to me. but overtime this aspect of her actually repelled me from her, cos i couldn't get onto the same wavelength as hers. i couldn't understand the reasons behind her doing certain actions, such as getting worked up over us not greeting her ''good morning'' properly with the right enthusiasm and attitude.
but soon i began to understand her eclectic wisdom. she is actually in fact, a person full of wisdom and values, morals and righteous beliefs. she overflows with interesting experiences and knowledge, ready to share it with us. she's a very caring teacher, who cares more than just the academic side of us. to her, the character-building that happens in school is more important. and i respect and agree with that. rather than how much time we spend studying, she is more concerned with our health and well-being. this is what i really call a teacher, an educator, a human.
she has touched my life, giving me better advice than what my parents could've possibly given. she has given me enough concern that i would've demanded or expected from a teacher. for this i give her my utmost respect. she has shared with me (us) her morals, values and beliefs that are right and supported in all ways. for this she has gained my admiration. she has given me a well-rounded education, of my academic, spiritual, psychological being. for this i look to her as my mentor. she has opened my eyes and perspective, teaching me to look at things at various planes of thinking. for this i give her my praise. for everything she's done, i want to thank her =]
im really bored of studying not that i wanna slack at sucha crucial period but seriously if too much of a good thing is bad, how can too much of a bad thing (e.g. MUGGING) be any better right so yeahs here i am to blog... i was thinking of what to blog about and i just realised... i've yet to blog about one of the most significant days in my secondary school life... GRADUATION DAY. im such a doodoo head please...
anyways i won't be telling a long old great grandmother's story as i always do... this time i'll let the pictures do the story telling... as the saying goes "pictures say a thousand words." besides i think its more beautiful to use the images itself rather than use words to substitute them =]
ms lim gave use cute lil old-fashioned wooden pencils to use for our o level mcq questions cos she said its easier to shade the boxes with those wooden pencils... she even pasted the words ''use me for mqcs!'' on each pencil! so thoughtful huh? just before her lesson ended we screamed and shouted to take pics with her and our brand new pencils =]
